IS COUNSELLING CONFIDENTIAL?

  • Yes- Everything we discuss will be kept private and confidential.   I am committed to maintain the integrity of your personal information which means that I will not discuss the details of our sessions or confirm your attendance in counselling without your written permission to do so.  Only under some specific parameters – such as imminent risk to yourself or others, any concern about a child in harm, or a court subpoena  would I be legally and ethically be required to take appropriate steps to maintain safety and report to appropriate authorities.  During our first session, I will review the limits of confidentiality in more depth and answer any questions you may have. 

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN OUR WORK TOGETHER?

  • The first session is a chance for you to share your feelings and struggles as well as learn more about the challenges you are facing and issues that have brought you to counselling.  I will ask questions and listen while exploring themes and patterns to help you find ways to cope more effectively with challenges you face.  

  • In our work together, we may explore your core beliefs, triggers, attachments, and childhood experiences that have left emotional imprints on your present day struggles.  

  • You can expect to be heard and understood.  You can also expect a deeper understanding about the experiences that you have had that have shaped your personal life narrative and find more adaptive ways of coping with distress.  

WILL MY INSURANCE COVER CLINICAL COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES?

    All plans vary- check with your extended health benefit plans to see if RCC are covered.

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

  • Although many of my clients are referred by their doctors, this is not a requirement. You do not require any referral in order to schedule an appointment.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment please contact me with at least 48 hours notice. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled without 48-hours notification are charged in full. Maintaining a strict 48-hours notification policy enables me to provide a professional service and to avoid disruption from no-shows and short notice cancellations. Thank you.

DO YOU OFFER DISTANCE THERAPY BY TELEPHONE OR VIDEO?

  • I offer phone or video counselling on a secure platform to clients throughout North America.
